  • Support for the stress and burden of being a care partner, including self-care and wellness

  • Family meetings

Support Groups:

All our support groups are confidential and led by trained professionals.

After completing CAPES or HOPE groups, care partners can attend the ongoing monthly Caregiver Support Group that connects care partners in a safe place for sharing caregiving experiences.

Billing and Insurance:

The Memory Counseling Program accepts most forms of insurance and is committed to serve all who seek our services. If you are concerned about your ability to pay, financial assistance is available through the Financial Counseling Department. For questions about your insurance coverage, please contact your insurance company directly.

Billable services include the initial intake assessment, individual psychotherapy for the person with dementia and their care partners, family meetings, and medical education consultations.

The generous support of donors enables us to offer some services at no cost to participants, such as support groups, general dementia education, and outreach.

About Olivia Simpson:

I received my Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree and certificate in Gerontology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2018. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Development with a focus on family studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My experience includes internships with Adult Protective Services, the Adult Center for Enrichment, and Coastal Horizons counseling center. My post-graduate clinical work has focused on providing education and mental health services in a PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care) setting as a part of a multidisciplinary health care team at Elderhaus in Wilmington, NC.
