About
Emotions and relationships are the core of what I do. Throughout my career I’ve helped families dealing with chronic or terminal illness, and death-loss. These challenges have no easy answer or fix. It’s less about what to do, and more about how you do it–it’s about relating, mourning, and discovering how to move forward. I’ve also helped couples address the conflicts that seem to occur at inflexion points in the life cycle: retirement, moving, changes in ability, loss of children, etc. My bachelor’s degree in psychology from Brigham Young University and my master’s degree in social work from the University of Washington gave me my start; a voracious appetite for reading and learning through experience keeps me going. Therapy with me doesn’t usually doesn’t involve “homework” per se, but an expectation that you will begin to wonder at and observe your inner world. My approach is warm and conversational, grounded in psychodynamic and attachment theories.
