I joined Ouachita Behavioral Health and Wellness to start a program to expand mental health services to the geriatric population. It’s such a passion of mine to be able to provide therapy to older adults who may not have any social interactions. Transportation at nursing homes and assisted livings is such an issue that I would love to go into nursing homes to provide therapy. Research has shown that therapy is not productive in individuals with late stage dementia, but I would be able to provide therapy to people with early-stage dementia and other disorders, such as Adjustment Disorder, depression, and anxiety. I am also getting my certification as a brain injury specialist and would love to work with individuals who have had brain injuries to provide psychoeducation and support to them.
