Julia Lesselyong is a licensed clinical psychologist. She obtained her masters degree and doctor of psychology at University of the Rockies in Colorado Springs. She completed an internship at the Institute on Aging in San Francisco, CA. She worked at the San Francisco Veterans Administration working on research related dementia and mental health in older adults. She has worked administering neuropsychological testing to diagnostic clarification for people with cognitive impairment. For the past 7 years, she has been the Clinical Director of Behavioral Health at numerous Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing facilities developing and operating programs for people with dementia related behavioral problems and serious mental illness who have not been able to live safely in less restrictive environments. The primary focus of her practice is to develop programs and train staff on utilizing non-pharmcological approaches to behavioral management for older adults in long term care.
Services
Clinical Directorship in Long Term Care for both Non-Dementia programs for people who have not succeeded in less restricted environments in long term care and Global Cognitive Impairment units for people who have behaviors secondary to global cognitive impairment (e.g. Alzheimer's disease, Dementias, Anoxic Brain Injuries, CVAs) that have not be able to be managed in less restrictive environments. These programs are focused on non-pharmacological treatments for people with serious behavioral concerns and are generally in specialized units in long term care programs including assisted living and skilled nursing facilities.
